Weekly Update- 5th September
| |
Hi
Training tip: Planning ahead and scheduling training |

Are you an athlete who only thinks about training as it comes around day-by-day then realise you don't have time to fit your recommended sessions into the week?
Try looking at your program on a Sunday night and planning your week so you can fit your training sessions in early mornings/ lunch times/ while kids are at sport/ before shift work. This will also help you to organise what gear/food you'll need for your sessions during the week.
Make it happen this week!

Bike Maintenance Courses coming up: |

The course will be run on two evenings - Tuesdays 6th and 13th September.
On Tuesday 6th we'll cover 'how to change a tyre'. You'll bring your bike with you, and will get the chance to change your own tyre.
Tuesday 13th- the focus will be on getting to know your bike, maintaining your chain and other vital bike maintenance info that will keep your bike in working order for the season ahead.
Let your friends and family know about this course- could save some roadside embrassment when you realise you can't remember how to change that tyre, or fix your chain...

McLeans Forest 6/12hr mountain bike races 29th October |

Here’s how we can help make your McLeans Forest race an awesome day out: our Thursday evening MTB sessions at McLean’s are designed as blocks of high intensity intervals. This will incrase your speed so you can blast past your mates in the race. It’s not pleasant working these sessions on your own and with companionship and competitiveness amongst participants this is a fun way to push your body to higher levels of performance. To book click here.
For the endurance component you might consider our road bunch rides as a way of getting time on the bike in a challenging yet social way. To book, click here. We are also offering 'intro to mountain bike skills', intermediate skills and summer evening circuit.

Complete Performance Coast to Coast evening. |

Congratulations to everyone that made it along to our "Coast to coast -but how?" Seminar. This was the second seminar in the series where we focused on key aspects of the race and how to make sure you have a great event. We looked at gear and transitions thanks to Fleur Pawsey and Lisa Morrison from R&R sport for helping with this. Planning is a key aspect to the race and the more aspects that you can plan for the less likely that things will go wrong, participants were guided through key things to focus on here.
Thanks to Steve Gurney and Mike Catton for the mental excellence presentation. They focused on the power of positive thinking and how to use key psychological skills in the coast to coast to ensure that you have a great day. Steve has a one day workshop that delves deeper into mental excellence for the coast to coast – contact us for more information.
