General Running Technique

You often hear people say that they enjoy running because it is simple, you can just strap your shoes on, head out the door and you are training.  This is true but if you want to improve your running getting fitter will only get you so far.  It is important when training any aspect of your performance that you train it correctly.  Improving your running technique will help you to run more efficiently, comfortably & reduce the chance of injury.

Karen will analyse your current running technique and teach you the most efficient way to run.  You will come away with the knowledge and specific drills that you can use to improve your running performance. Aspects that she focuses on include:
• Breathing, foot strike type, foot strike placement, running cadence and body position
• Propulsion using the big muscle groups and knee drive                                                                                           
• Maintaining running momentum through correct limb movement
• Efficient uphill running
• Falling downhill in a controlled manner

These sessions are designed to improve the off road running skills of runners that want to become more confident and comfortable running across rough terrain that includes rocks, boulders and tree roots. You will come away with a good understanding of the skills required for technical running and a variety of drills that you can include in your training sessions. A necessity for runners training for C2C, Kepler, Tuatara, Big Day Out, Croesus Crossing etc.
