Regular sports massage is extremely useful in helping people perform to their potential.  By helping you recover from hard training sessions and also allowing us to prevent injuries by getting a feel for how your muscles are coping with the training.

Karen McLeod

“My interest in Massage Therapy stems from my background as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.  I graduated from the Christchurch College of Natural Medicine in 2003 with a Diploma in Massage Therapy. As a result of my desire to deepen my knowledge, I have gained additional qualifications such as a Certificate in Advanced Sports Massage,  Certificate in Fitness Management (Otago), Myofascial Release and recently an Advanced Certificate in Neuromuscular Therapy (American version). I am one of the first graduates in the southern hemisphere to gain this world wide qualification.

As an Academy of Sport Provider and a Remedial Massage Therapist (Massage New Zealand) I have had the privilege of massaging elite athletes such as an Olympic triathletes, British, Australian and New Zealand women cricketers, members of the New Zealand Women’s Hockey team, Tactix netballers, British rugby and rugby league players, The All Blacks and athletes from many other sports.   In 2007 I was the massage therapist in the medical team for the Australasian PGA golf tournament held at Clearwater.  For the last 4 years I have organised therapists for Le Race cycle event and co-coordinated massage for the Speights Coast to Coast Event.

Many of my clients are ordinary, every day people from all walks of life who have realized that massage therapy can help muscle aches and pains whether from postural imbalances, repetitive work, or exercise. The weekend warriors know that regular massage can aid recovery and prevent injury.

Eric Fulton & Karen McLeodAs well as having my own practice, I also work from Sportsmed, which is one of the leading Sports Medicine Clinics in Christchurch. I believe in an holistic approach to rehabilitation, and pain management, and I appreciate the opportunity to work alongside professional Physicians, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Podiatrists.

After 20 years of running and high impact exercise I now enjoy tramping, walking up in the hills, spin classes, weight training and aqua jogging.  (In other words I am a broken down runner).  My week is quite busy so when I get time I enjoy gardening, and eating out with friends. My partner and I have recently returned from a 5 week trip to Europe where we spent some time with my youngest son who lives in the UK.  My eldest son works in Perth.”
