How to get fitter, stronger, faster…

The only way that you can get fitter faster or stronger is to under go a specific training stress followed by the appropriate recovery. Check out the graph below and the description that was in our March Newsletter below

Specific Training Stress + Appropriate Recovery = Performance Improvement

Specific Training Stress + Appropriate Recovery = Performance Improvement

Now is a good time to remind you all about the importance of RECOVERY in your training. We all know the reason we train is to be able to perform better- be fitter, faster and stronger. In order to achieve this we put specific stresses on our bodies eg. the intensity we work at, the duration we train for and the type of exercise we do. Our job as Endurance Coaches at Complete Performance is to make sure that you have the right amount of all three of these stresses…combined with the right amount of RECOVERY time in your program.

RECOVERY can be defined as- good nutrition/hydration, good amount of sleep and not too much life stress (family, work etc). It is when we recover properly that our body is able to adapt from the training stresses and we become fitter than we were before. We allow you that time, it’s up to you to make the most of it.

Possible outcomes from insufficient recovery- injury, sickness, decreased performance and loss of motivation. These are factors that can and should be avoided. Next time you think about punishing your body in an extra session, think about the benefits of recovering properly…you will be a better athlete.

Getting the right balance between training and recovery will lead to your Complete Performance!
