Kylie Rochford – Benchmark cycle race 1 – Nelson

Posted on March 28, 2010

“Benchmark 1 done and dusted, I stayed with the bunch for 5 laps and then rode 2 laps with a small bunch .  I finished 10th women I think.  Doing about 60-65kmph and big chain ring up hills is scary!!”

“Kylie kicks A#%e!!! She rode really well today!” (Nadine Voice)

Graperide – mission complete!

Posted on March 28, 2010

Some comments from some of our team that completed the Graperide this weekend

202km Enduro

  • Alastair Hines – Nadine gave me a tow over the last “40km”, didn’t get enough training in but really enjoyed it though.  A good challenge knocked off – thanks for your support.
  • Nadine Voice – It was fun :) Al and I rode together, we missed the bunch at the start.  Al looked after me for a bit and I dragged him home over the last “50km”!
  • Leah Bateman – all finished in 6hr55min so stoked to go under 7hours (it hurt though).  We talked Glenn Heges into the 202km event too in 6hr 15min.  All tired but happy!

Original 101km course

  • Neil Fletcher – about 3.30hr was my time I think but I had cramp issues over the last 20kms (need to sort my sport drink out).
  • Ruth Chapman – (AKA – Little Red Riding Ruth) – Think it was 3.33hrs, a lot quicker than I thought I would be. I was pretty toastie dressed up as Little Red Riding Ruth today :) !

Mark Nevin – Le Race

“Race entry fees:      A couple of hundy
Flash set of race wheels:     More than I should’ve spent
Having a great coach & sticking with the program:  Priceless

 Re: Le Race, March 2010

Yeah I know sounds a little sucky…but believe me, its true. Hopefully this ‘race report’ shares with you the benefits of having a very specific program, being committed to it and measuring improvements along the way.

Before you read too much further, full disclosure states this is not a quick read…especially if you’re supposed to be working…..”

Trudy Smallridge – Le Race

Posted on March 24, 2010

“I completed ½ of Le Race on Saturday.  One week prior to the event I decided Lisa would do the start of the relay.  SO many pros and cons… the start was longer and more bunches.  The second part more challenging (definitely) but shorter and more scenic.
A few discussions with my work colleagues during the week prior to Le Race I decided I better check the profile of the race more closely.  Oh dear…now I was really scared.  The hills were really BIG and lots of them.  I even contemplated switching with Lisa to make her do the second half instead.  I decided to be brave and have a go, after all the goal was simply to finish!”

Little Red Riding Ruth

Little Red Riding Ruth

“Despite having basically sat on the couch and ‘ate pies’ for the last 5 weeks since coast I made it through and the costume was a total hit with the crowds, esp. with the kids… watch out Graperide for Little Red Riding Ruth :)

“Good to see you up there cheering us on.  Actually that was the toughest section for me I felt pretty good the whole way but started to cramp a bit in the last 30 minutes.  I am pleased with my time of 3.16″

Great stuff Mark

Craig Richardson – Le Race

Posted on March 22, 2010

“3.31 for me.  Was good to see you at the Takahe! I got in a good bunch (with Glen from CP) across the flat and collected several bunches before the Hill Top climb.  My favourite bit was taking off from everyone about 1km from longbays road and downhilling in the 80’s… Nobody was getting past in the last 6kms!  see you Wednesday.”

You are an inspiration Craig!!
