Ruapuna Cycling

Posted on January 28, 2010

Ruapuna really turned on near perfect conditions for racing last night and the bunches were looking good with everyone having more or less worked out which one to be in.  Well done to Ruth Chapman who was the first women home in D2 and Mark Nevin who crossed the line 3rd in C1.

Matt Cody – Nelson Tri 1st!

Posted on January 27, 2010

Attached is a link to a result sheet from a short triathlon I did in on Sunday morning – 40-50yr old winner!  There were only 3 in my grade group but I placed 6th overall.  Had a really good bike (4th overall) and managed to hall back the guy who came second in my group who was third of the water (I was 7th) and we entered bike / run transition together.  I had a pretty good run for me and managed to leave him behind a bit.

Ruapuna Racing

Posted on January 20, 2010

It was cool to see so many CP athletes out at Ruapuna tonight.  This was a really good opportunity for riders to get back into the swing of Bunch riding and racing in the lead up to a number of events.  We didn’t have any winners this time but a number of podium finishes and good efforts.  Well done to Ruth Chapman, Miles Watson, Leah Bateman, Glenn Hedges, Paul Davies, Sam Evans, David Risdon, Keryn Ford, Kylie Rochford and Dean Johnson.  Look out next week – it might be time for some team tactics…  We hope to see even more people out there.

This will happen for the next five weeks before heading back to Pioneer Stadium and on CP summer cycling session on the 3rd of March.

Challenge Wanaka

Posted on January 19, 2010

I am fresh back from an amazing weekend at Challenge Wanaka. Well done to our athletes who competed, including our 3 new “iron- people”: Nadia MacLaren, Shane Lynch and Andy Frankenschmidt. Nadine Voice is now a 2x Iron-lady! The athletes all had to dig deep to beat the 28 degree heat. Zarnia Morrison, Andrew Taylor, Scott McNab and Toni Watts all took on the Half Challenge, and Anita Paling rode the 180km bike leg as part of a team for the full Challenge. All the athletes have commented on what a stunning course it was, perhaps some of you might be keen to tackle it next year…?

Congratulations Kate and Sam

Posted on January 7, 2010

Congrats to Kate Hopewell who has just got engaged to her partner Sam on Tuesday this week.  They will be racing each other during this year’s 2 day Coast to coast so it will be interesting to know if Kate’s motivation is greater to beat her 6th placing from last year or to beat Sam…!

All the best from the CP team.
