Dean’s race report
Posted on October 22, 2009
Check out Dean’s excellent race report from the recent Frostbuster Multisport race:
“From the moment the golf club struck that ball, the laid back attitude was cast aside. I was Captain Focus. I was Doctor Dedication. I was having fun.
Two minutes later I was Puffing Percy. The pace was pretty hot (for me),…”

Alastair Hines – Frostbuster 09

Hi Richard,
A bit of feedback from the Frostbuster on the weekend.
It was fantastic to see all the Complete Performance kit in the field. Richard you guys are doing an awesome job getting us ready for our various events and the CP team spirit is coming through. Miles and Ruth looked really good and big ups on an awesome effort on completing your first multisport race!
I had a fun race and overall really happy to beat my last years time by nearly 20 minutes. Struggled a bit on the run with breathing thanks to yet another cold, ok bike and had fun on my first moving water paddle since Coast. Actually found myself looking for the rougher water to paddle through once I got back into it so happy with that. I think there is more in the tank so bring on Teva…
We all had really good support on the day and it was great to have coaches Kim and Chris egging us on. All in all a great day.
Cheers and thanks for your support as always.

Ruth Chapman looses $50
Posted on October 18, 2009
Ruth sent a text on Friday before the Frostbuster saying that she will probably be last in her first multisport race as an individual. Knowing how well Ruth has been improving over the past few months I jumped at this opportunity and bet her $50 that she wouldn’t be last. This is the text message that I received today…
“I owe you 50 bucks, although it was a close call at times with getting lost on the run, having both calves cramp on the bike and quads on the paddle
. First Multisport race chalked up!” Awesome effort Ruth a great stepping stone toward the Coast to coast individual 2 day!

“I really struggled for the first 1.30 hours, then I started to feel ok and felt better and better the further I ran. I took 14.21 off last year’s time, very happy!!” Awesome effort Debbie!

Well done to Ruth on completing the 6 hour MTB at the weekend …. “6 hours, one pit stop, 8 laps and a bit broken
” Well done Ruth and not sure how you lost a lap since you actually did 9 laps on the day – maybe you were going to fast…

Leah Bateman – Wild Coaster

“I ended up 4hr7mins on Sat. I was a bit disappointed was hoping to get under the 4hr mark but we were stopped by a coal train for a while and I did end up riding from the 70km mark completely alone (and before that there wasn’t really any bunches and I was doing a fair bit of work – more people need the bunch riding course!). Felt really good up to the 90km and pretty sh*t from about 100km home!
Overall it was a beautiful course, stunning scenery with nice hills and even I was starting to enjoy the descents which were bendy but at a nice grade and most often with a well maintained surface. I was 6th woman home in the open category out of a starting group of 17 and was pretty surprised at that result – maybe we can turn cycling into a strength after all – or maybe at least something I no longer dread?!” Well done Leah a great build up to Taupo

Lyndal Donnelly – 6 hour solo MTB – 2nd!

“Wow what a day – I really couldn’t believe that result. When they announced the 3rd place getter Nigel & I looked at each other as they said she had done 10 laps – same as me – but thought I’d been beaten on end time. I was quite gutted to think I’d come 4th even though my goal was a ‘top 5 finish’. To hear my name in second was so exciting words can’t express.
I am disappointed however as I put in my Comp Perf running top & thought if I got a placing I would put it on for the photo – I thought I was 4th or even 5th so stayed rugged up – sorry!
Let me know where I can drop the chocolate cake off …..” Awesome effort Lyndal it is fun to be a part of your success!!
