“Thanks for your help over the year, I wouldn’t have got there without you and really just couldn’t say just how much this means to me.  I’ve thought about doing the coast for so long now and for years thought it was completely beyond me.  Wow, it’s just unbelievable that I’ve done it!”  Well done Wendy it has great to be a part of your development and success.

Ruth Chapman, Coast to coast 09

“As you may well know there was a mighty Complete Performance contingent present at this year’s Coast to Coast event and I felt privileged to be part of this and knowing so many people taking part added to the festivities over the weekend.

People have said to me since how disappointed I must feel after all the hard work I put in to have the day turn to custard – but as I said to Richard, you just never know what will happen on race day and I went from having a blinder of a paddle to wondering if I was in fact even going to finish my race.  The fact I did is all I could have asked for – until you are confronted with the chilling reality of not finishing at all – its then to cross that line the biggest wave of relief sets in, not regret. And hey it’s not everyone who can say they get to exchanged pleasantries with Gordon Walker as he paddled his way to victory!”
Well done Ruth! Click here to find out how she managed to fix her rudder and finish the paddle…

“On balance the race was bloody fantastic! Really enjoyed the challenge, achieved my goal to complete the event and the result was ok although a little slower than I had planned.  It was really great to have so much support and friendly faces around during the weekend. The Complete Performance crew really rock!  Well done Alastair and pleased that I could help, even if it meant going to the level of falling out of my boat in front of you as you emptied yours out,  just to boost your confidence!!” For Alastair’s race report click here

“I had a good run I was really stoked as did it under 5 hours, my nutrition helped me get through the run as I was constantly taking food on board, I also thought I had fast transitions which helped thanks to my crew who I made have a couple of practise runs!  What a hard fought weekend, all the pain was worth the battle, I learnt this on my lonely cycle home from the Gorge to Sumner was the hardest 70k I’ve ridden.  Thank you very much I couldnt have achieved what I did without your help =)”

Congratulations Kate on a fantastic improvement 20th last year to 6th in the open women 2 day individual this year!

Nick Emery, SI XC Round 1 -Otago Peninsula, Dunedin

Posted on February 2, 2009

“Had a reasonable race on Sunday, got 3rd in V1… I had a wee over the bars event following possibly a wee bit close thru some small water runoff channels, I thought these guys had a good pace on but I ended up catching them back up quite fast from a fair way back after picking myself out of a bush, so decided I should go past after that… then later on a few of us (2 V2 and 1 Elite) got lost down some random farm track and went all the way to a dead end before we realised!”
