Vivien McCasky, Lake Hood short course tri, Ashburton
Posted on November 24, 2008
Having only discovered the fun of triathlon eight weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet and for my third triathlon commit to the Lake Hood short course. My finishing time: 1.53 – Yeah! Under two hours. I was delighted. Overall placed 24th. A very good effort for my third triathlon in as many months.

“I did it! Amazing experience, it was too congested at the start to get under 4 hours but I am very happy with 4 hours and 7 mins and felt strong the whole way. Waiting in the cold for 6 hours before the race was harder!”

“1km swim in sea – cold
30km cycle – fely weak after swim took 5km to get into swing, felt strong at end
10km run – Hilly, but legs were strong
I can’t remember feeling so good after a race.I feel like I’m where I was around end of december last year, but can run and swim better!”

“Had a great weekend with a great run in the Flagpole event. Orginally I was targeting around 2hrs 45 and set a stretch target of 2hrs 30. So to come in at 2hrs 15 I was really excited. I felt great through the whole run with a high intensity, seemed to be able to pick up and pass people right through the whole run.”
